Harlem Masimba West is a sonic griot, archival image maker, and curator  from Out South Chicago. Their interdisciplinary practice is tethered to the portals that find black folks. Anchored in the analog, their work is centered at the crossroads of the post colonial taboo, hereditary worship, and queer inheritance. Harlem is currently the '26 Visual Arts Curator at Elastic Arts, Spudnik Press, and ILA Fellow at the Kimball Arts Center.  They a're an alumni of the Earthseed Family Cohort Project, with publications in the Chicago Reader, Brooklyn Poets, and APOGEE press.

At their center, Harlem is an eldest sibling doing their best to honor the name they momma gave 'em.
